Background. One of the prospective directions of pressure coupling’s functional properties provision is contact control of mating parts interaction, particularly, usage of anaerobic materials at assemblage that polymerize in the contact zone. The main advantage of anaerobic materials’ application is that the said technology allows to selectively harden various parts of pressure couplings. In many constructions the load, exerted on a coupling, distributes along the coupling unevenly; the most loaded area is the one from the side of the operational load application, and, as a rule, such area to a large extent is subject to fretting corrosion under the effect of alternating and dynamic loads. The aim of the work is to research the capabilities of rational provision of operational properties of pressure couplings by selective (local) harden-ing at assemblage with anaerobic materials.
Materials and methods. Modeling of the pressure coupling’s bearing capacity was carried out using a method of finite elements taking into account the theory of contact interaction of mating surfaces. The article shows the results of the experi-mental research. The anaerobic material was taken as a material for coupling harden-ing.
Results and conclusions. The authors researched the method of selective harden-ing of pressure couplings at assemblage with anaerobic materials, allowing to ration-ally increase coupling’s strength, especially at low and medium interference. It has been established that the operational load in the form of torque or axial force along a pressure coupling is distributed extremely unevenly – generally, the zone from the side of the load application is loaded. Unevenness of pressure coupling load should be taken into account when designing constructions, as well as in technologies of coupling assemblage and hardening. To lower the expenses it is necessary to harden coupling areas on the side of load application; thereby one achieves the same effect as when anaerobic materials are deposited along the whole coupling.
